For the 2022-2023 academic year, the university has lifted all COVID-19 travel restrictions. Effective Wednesday, August 17, 2022, faculty and staff traveling internationally may proceed with booking airfare in Concur or through World Travel if they have authorization from their school/college/division. Per the university’s International Travel Policy, all international travel must be registered with Risk Management’s Global Health, Safety, and Security team prior to departure.

All student travelers require approval to travel internationally according with the university’s International Travel Policy. See below for more information.

Faculty and Staff Registration

In compliance with the university's International Travel Policy, Temple faculty or staff need to register their international travel with Risk Management. These registrations are monitored by Risk Management's Global Health, Safety, and Security team and the information provided is used only for emergency purposes. 

Faculty and staff must submit their registration through our online form. Note that you must use your TU AccessNet and password to login to the registration form. Faculty and staff must submit a signed copy of the Traveling and COVID-19 Risk Acknowledgment waiver with their registration.

Important Steps for Individual Student Travelers

Apply for Approval

Effective January 1, 2020, any individual student traveling on Temple Affiliated Travel will be required to obtain approval from Risk Management's Global Health, Safety, and Security team prior to departure.

Any individual professional, graduate, or undergraduate student may request approval to travel internationally for the 2022-2023 academic year. All requests are submitted online through the Individual Student International Travel Approval Form. Requests are done on a rolling basis, and should be submitted between 60 and 45 days prior to travel dates. Late submissions may not be accommodated. See the Timelines section below.

Submissions for approval will need to include the following:

  • Description of Travel, Itinerary & Activities

  • Academic or Research Continuity

  • Department of State, CDC and International SOS ratings of proposed destination

  • Individual Health and Safety Preparedness

  • Approval from Division to Travel

Register your Travel

Complete Required Temple Forms:

  • After submitting a request for approval, student’s travel information will be reviewed by Risk Management's Global Health, Safety, and Security team. Depending upon the health conditions or security assessment in the proposed location, requests may also be reviewed by the Elevated/High Risk Committee.  All submissions will receive notification electronically about the status of their application.

  • Should travel be approved, individual students will be required to submit additional information to finalize their registration within one month of their departure date.

Complete Online Health & Safety Training

  • After receiving approval, students will be enrolled in an online international health and safety training in Canvas. The training must be completed within one month of the student’s departure date.
On-Site
  • Store emergency contact information in your phone. Learn the local numbers for emergency services, such as police, fire, and ambulance.
  • Be in contact with International SOS regarding any medical questions or concerns that arise.
  • Respond to International SOS and/or Temple in the event of an emergency.
